Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Spud who was born to two drug addicted parents but was taken in with the rest of his siblings by his grandparents at the age of 8 years old. Known to his family and friends as Rob Cotton, this Chi town MC was raised in the church. As an effort to keep him off the streets, Rob’s grandparents not only allowed him to bloom through the youth groups in the church, but they also allowed him to cultivate his talents as a lyricist by letting him join a church rap group called “411.” Even with that being the case, Rob still found himself engulfed in a battle to stay on the straight path because the fast paced street life outside of his doors was still quite tempting. After walking the straddling the fence a bit, Rob chose to stay with the group
And hone his skills a complete artist. 411 would go on to travel and perform in front of thousands of people at several church-related functions across the globe.
It is only now that Mr. Cotton understands that God has a greater purpose for him. Combining the many facets of life, which includes struggle, love, pain, spirituality, and the streets, Spud has dropped 2 mixtapes, “Paper Boy.” and " Live N Let Die " and he just recently dropped his first EP entitled " 1st Impression " With the street anthems like “Living For The City,” the absolute banger, “Paper Chase,” and the awe-inspiring “I’m Me,” Spud Cotton is poised to breathe new life into Hip-Hop. Capitalizing off of the huge buzz surrounding him, Spud is currently performing around the nation. Whether its mesmerizing crowds at the youth convention in Philly or shutting down the world famous Wild Hare in Chicago, Spud is proving that he understands that MC definitely means, “Move the Crowd.”
With an uncanny balanced approach to life and music, Spud has not only mastered the art of moving the crowd, but he is also ready to move the world.
